If you want to become a Chartered Accountant

If you want to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) after 10th (Arts/Commerce/Science), here’s what you should do step-by-step:

How to Become a CA After 10th (Path in India)

1. After 10th: Choose Commerce in 11th & 12th

  • Best Stream: Commerce with Accounts, Economics, and Business Studies (Arts/Science students can switch later, but Commerce is easier).

  • Alternative: If you’re in Arts/Science, you can still pursue CA but will need extra effort in Accounts.

2. Register for CA Foundation (After 12th)

  • After passing 12th, register for CA Foundation (1st level of CA).

  • Subjects:

    1. Principles of Accounting

    2. Business Laws

    3. Quantitative Aptitude

    4. Economics/Business Economics

3. Clear CA Foundation → Register for CA Intermediate

  • After passing CA Foundation, enroll in CA Intermediate (divided into 2 groups).

  • Subjects: Advanced Accounts, Taxation, Law, Auditing, etc.

4. Complete Articleship (3 Years Training)

  • After passing either one or both groups of CA Intermediate, start 3 years of Articleship (practical training) under a practicing CA.

5. Give CA Final Exams

  • After completing Articleship, appear for CA Final Exams (toughest level).

  • Once cleared, you become a Chartered Accountant (CA)!

Can Arts Students Become CA?

✅ Yes! Even if you take Arts after 10th, you can switch to CA after 12th by registering for CA Foundation. However, you’ll need to study Commerce subjects like Accounts & Economics separately.

Best Alternative If You Want Early Entry

  • Diploma in Accounting/Finance after 10th → Helps build a base for CA.

  • Direct Entry Route (If you score high in 12th) – You can skip CA Foundation and enter CA Intermediate directly (requires 55%+ in Commerce or 60%+ in Arts/Science).
